BOSTON, MA (MAY 2, 2022) -- Digital Ready and Outlier.org have announced a partnership to offer three for-credit college mathematics courses available for free to high school students in Boston Public Schools beginning in the Fall of 2022.
Through this partnership, Boston high school students can take Outlier.org's College Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus I courses at no cost to them, and earn up to 9 college credits from the University of Pittsburgh, helping to make college more accessible and affordable.
Students that have a strong foundation in math are better prepared for the rigor and demands of STEM careers like computer science, engineering, architecture, biotechnology, data science, and many more.
By offering these three early college courses, students can enter college with 9 no cost college credits — this is a must for any student that sees themselves as a future innovator. They’ll be prepared for just about any job in the future.
Three early college math classes will be available starting this Fall. Students will take a math diagnostic after they apply to determine which class they should take first. The classes are free to any Boston Public School student in grades 10, 11, and 12. In addition to the courses, students will receive support such as weekly MathLabs, small group tutoring, college and career mentors, as well as access to college and industry tours, career chats and networking and social events.
The application period will be open from May 2 through September 15 to allow students and their families ample time to enroll in the class before the start of the Fall semester. There is no cost to students and their families, but students will need access to a laptop and WiFi at their home. Students who do not have a laptop or WiFi at home should indicate this on their application. Digital Ready’s mission is to ensure that students can reach their full potential without barriers.
