Y13 allows students to explore their
purpose + passions
and design their own path
to a high-wage job in
Boston’s innovation economy.

Why a Year 13?

The year between high school and college is a critical point in a young person’s life. When done by design and not by default , we believe Year 13 can help students radically imagine their purpose.

Operating like a lab of innovation, Year 13 students will be given explicit permission to take risks to learn and experiment with new and innovative ideas using cutting-edge technology -- artificial intelligence, virtual reality, digital fabrication, robotics, and machine learning -- to develop themselves as creative leaders.

This innovative bridge year will ignite students’ passions, equip them with the skills necessary to navigate a complex, technology-driven world, and ultimately connect them to high-wage jobs in Boston’s innovation economy. During Year 13, students will participate in college courses, work-based learning experiences, and collaborative design studios to emerge with 18 college credits — making college more affordable and accessible.

Our Vision.

We are preparing the next generation of leaders, who will become artificial organ designers, biofabricators, ethical hackers, massive 3D printed building designers, biomimicry innovators, quantum computer programmers and more. Year 13 students will be ready for the complexity of a constantly evolving economy as they will weave together artificial intelligence, engineering, design, and code to solve incredibly gnarly 21st-century problems. Every college and every workplace in Boston and beyond will clamor to have them as part of their team.
